PDF Breeze

Last updated: June 29, 2026

Overview

Penguin Labs ("we," "us," or "our") operates PDF Breeze, an iOS application that lets you sign, scan, merge, compress, annotate, and convert PDF documents — entirely on your device.

The short version: PDF Breeze is designed with privacy as a foundation, not an afterthought. Your documents never leave your iPhone. No account is required. We do not read, store, or upload your PDFs.

This Privacy Policy explains what limited data we do collect (crash reports, anonymous usage analytics, and subscription status) and how it is used. By downloading and using PDF Breeze, you consent to the practices described here.

On-Device Processing

Every PDF operation in PDF Breeze — signing, scanning, merging, compressing, protecting, splitting, OCR, annotation, and conversion — is performed locally on your iPhone using Apple's native frameworks (PDFKit, VisionKit, Core Graphics, PencilKit).

  • Your documents are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party cloud service
  • PDF processing happens entirely on your device — no internet connection is required
  • No account or login is needed to use any feature
  • Documents are stored in your device's local file system under your control
  • Deleting the app removes all locally stored documents from our app's sandbox

What We Collect

Anonymous Usage Analytics

We collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to understand which features are most useful and where the app can be improved. This includes:

  • Which tools are used (e.g., Sign, Merge, Compress) — without any document content
  • App session length and frequency
  • Paywall views and subscription events (anonymous)
  • Onboarding completion rates

Crash & Performance Reports

When the app crashes or encounters an error, we collect a crash report to help us fix bugs. These reports include:

  • Stack trace (the code path that caused the crash)
  • Device type and iOS version
  • App version and build number
  • No document content or personal information

Subscription Status

To verify your subscription status, we use RevenueCat, which receives anonymous purchase receipts from Apple. This does not include your name, email, payment details, or any document data.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • The contents of your PDF documents — ever
  • Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
  • Your location
  • Your contacts or calendar data
  • Photos beyond what you explicitly select to convert

Device Permissions

PDF Breeze requests only the permissions it needs. All permission-gated features process data locally on your device.

Camera

Used exclusively for the document scanning feature. Camera images are processed on-device to create PDFs and are never uploaded.

Photo Library

Used when you choose to convert photos to PDF. Only the specific images you select are accessed.

Files (Document Picker)

Used to let you open PDF documents from Files, Mail, or other apps. No automatic file access.

PDF Breeze does not request access to your microphone, contacts, location, health data, or Bluetooth.

Third-Party Services

PDF Breeze uses a small number of third-party services for analytics, crash reporting, and subscription management. None of these services receive your document content.

Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google)

Anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting. No document content or personal identifiers are shared. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Mixpanel

Anonymous product analytics to understand feature usage and improve the app. No document content or personally identifiable information is shared.

RevenueCat

Subscription management. RevenueCat receives anonymous App Store purchase receipts to verify subscription status. No document data, name, or email is shared.

Apple

All payment processing is handled directly by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment information.

Push Notifications

PDF Breeze may request permission to send push notifications. These are used for:

  • App update and new feature announcements
  • Trial period reminders (e.g., your trial ends tomorrow)
  • Subscription renewal reminders

You can disable push notifications at any time through iOS Settings → PDF Breeze → Notifications.

Subscriptions & Payments

PDF Breeze offers optional premium subscriptions managed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect, see, or store your payment information. All billing is handled by Apple.

RevenueCat receives anonymous transaction receipts from Apple solely to verify your subscription status within the app. This does not include your credit card or bank details.

Your Rights

Because PDF Breeze does not collect personal data, most traditional data rights (access, correction, portability) are moot — there is nothing on our servers to access or export. However, you have the right to:

  • Opt out of push notifications via iOS Settings
  • Request information about what limited analytics data exists
  • Request deletion of any analytics identifiers associated with your device
  • Manage and cancel your subscription via Apple ID settings at any time

Children's Privacy

PDF Breeze is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app requires no account and collects no personal data, children who use the app do not expose personal information to us. If you have concerns, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification. Your continued use of PDF Breeze after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
